Independent Fire Company of Belford

We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When people need help we answer the call.
Be it a house on fire, a gasoline spill, a trapped construction worker, a motor vehicle accident, a natural
disaster or even a terrorist event The Fire Department will be there.

The M.T.F.D.

The Middletown Township Fire Department is an All Volunteer Fire Department. We are constantly looking
for more members to join our TEAM.

The risks are obvious but the rewards are never ending. The Fire Service is the most unique of all the
branches of emergency response. We are trained experts in a variety of disciplines from fire attack to
hazardous materials to rope rescue to emergency medical care. For more about the Department visit our
M.T.F.D. page. As a member of the M.T.F.D. you will be eligible for the Length of Service Awards Program
(L.O.S.A.P.). This program is an incentive to members. It is basically a pension system that rewards the
members for their service.

Requirements

You must be 18 years old and a resident of the Township or its surrounding Municipalities. New members are
supplied with all of the necessary equipment. They are required to attend the State Certified Firefighter 1
Course. This provides you with the minimum qualifications to be a Firefighter. The course is approximately
155 hours long and our Fire Department trains its own Firefighters. The Middletown Township Fire Training
Academy and its staff of State Certified Fire Service Instructors is responsible for training all of the
Departments members. Once the minimum requirements are met, Firefighter may continue their training by
enrolling in a number of specialized fire service courses at no cost.

Station 7, Belford Independent

The Independent Fire Company of Belford (Station 7) is made up of a diverse group of individuals who make
up a TEAM of aggressive Firefighters. We run 3 pieces of fire apparatus out of our firehouse. A Ladder
Truck (T-170), a Pumper (E-171) and a Brush Truck (BT-172). We run approximately 300 calls for service
a year and we train, train, train all year long.

In addition to responding to emergencies and training we usually find a way to have a good time. The
members here are basically a large family. When you join you immediately become a part of that family. There
is always something to do or a task to complete.
