Station 7 members practice their techniques
as a Rapid Intervention Team. R.I.T. is a relatively new concept being utilized
by the Fire Service. Though the assignment is often not glamorous, it is perhaps
the most important assignment of any crew on the fireground.
The R.I.T. is a team of Firefighters designated to standby at an incident in
case a Firefighter working at the incident becomes trapped or lost. The R.I.T.
will often standby with an assortment of tools and spare breathing apparatus. If
ordered into action, the R.I.T. must perform their duties with speed and
efficiency. The Incident Commander at every fire scene will designate a crew as
R.I.T. to ensure the safety of every Firefighter working on scene.
The members of Station 7 are committed to being prepared should we be assigned
to perform the duties of a R.I.T.
